Are you not into hiring an expensive wedding planner and want to take care of all the details yourself? If so, then once you have set your date, time and location of the wedding and have decided on your guest list, then you may want to get busy and create your own do it yourself wedding invitations as well.
Creating your own wedding invitation design lets you dream up something which will be entirely unique; something totally unlike what anyone else will ever have. Taking the time to do this from scratch not only is a symbol of the love you have as a couple, it also indicates to your guests just how important they are to you. This kind of project can be as fancy or as simple as you decide; you can look for pre-made templates that you can customize and print on the computer or you can opt to make them entirely from scratch.
Having a small guest list certainly makes creating do it yourself wedding invitations a lot easier but don’t despair, as you can still create invitations with a large guest list as well. It is also easier if you have some experience using crafts but many of them are easy enough that even if you don’t you can still create lovely wedding invitations. First you need to be sure that your budget includes the cost of the materials that you will need. Decide if you want a two layer invitation and on what kind of paper, and what kind of font you will be using if you decide to print them on the computer, or the cost of calligraphy pens and watercolor paints if you are talented in these arts, envelopes and any other special decorations such as lace.
Another original idea for DIY wedding invitations is to send out a postcard style invitation; you can get blank postcard printable paper and create your own invitations that are quite inexpensive. The price to mail a postcard is less than a letter and you can have photo stamps designed that typically cost about $ 15 for a page of 20 postcard stamps. This is a unique concept that is still less expensive than mailing regular invitations.
Keep in mind that just because they are called do it yourself wedding invitations you do not have to do this all by yourself; there is no shame and possibly quite a bit of fun to be had by asking for help. Why not consider making a party out of it by asking friends or relatives over and supplying them with food and drink in return for helping you put together and addressing your wedding invitations?
